Role Overview
We are seeking a Software Architect with deep experience in distributed systems and large-scale storage to design and implement the next-generation Object Storage solution. You will be responsible for the architecture, design, and oversight of a scalable, reliable, and performant storage platform that can handle petabyte-scale data with strong consistency, availability, and security guarantees.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and lead the development of an object storage subsystem.
- Define system architecture and interfaces across storage layers, leveraging ZFS foundation.
- Drive technical decision-making across distributed storage, data replication, metadata services, gateways, erasure coding, security and compliance.
- Collaborate with the engineering teams to deliver high-performance, resilient, and secure storage solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical roadmap planning.
- Evaluate emerging storage technologies and propose innovations that enhance the platform’s competitiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in software architecture, with a focus on distributed systems or storage infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of object storage architectures (e.g., S3-compatible systems, metadata management, data durability models).
- Proven record of delivering complex software systems from concept to production.
- Strong understanding of data protection, replication, and consistency models in distributed environments.
- Strong programming experience in Go, Rust, or C++, with solid understanding of concurrency and networking.
- Experience with ZFS, or other UNIX-based storage frameworks.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with ability to work cross-functionally and drive consensus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience contributing to open-source object storage systems.
- Knowledge of erasure coding, tiered storage, or hybrid cloud integration
- Experience integrating object storage into unified storage platforms.
- Familiarity with storage networking protocols (NFS, SMB, iSCSI).
- Prior experience with enterprise or hyperscale storage vendors.
