The E-Series P now comes with an option for two additional high speed host ports on each of the RAID controllers. The resulting total of 12 high-speed host ports per system delivers industry-leading connectivity to make the Nexsan E-Series P even easier to deploy in your environment.
You get the flexibility of customer-configurable ports so you can make port changes when necessary. The extra host port option comes with a choice of 10GbE iSCSI or 16Gb or 8Gb Fibre Channel. The added ports do not have to match the interface choice for the standard 4 ports.
Nexsan E-Series P customers have a number of advantages with the additional host connectivity:
- If the E-Series P is being utilized in an 8Gb FC SAN infrastructure, the additional ports allow the full bandwidth potential of the E-Series P up to a maximum throughput of 7,500 Mb/s.
- Data replication can now be done via the high speed 10GbE ports, allowing replication to be done up to 10 times faster. This is a huge advantage because you still get the maximum performance via 4 ports of 16Gb/s FC (or 10GbE iSCSI) while simultaneously backing up data via the other 2 ports.
- With the increased number of host ports on the E-Series P, you may lessen or eliminate the need for high cost switches, further streamlining your environment and saving you precious budget dollars.
- Once you choose your host interface, you’re not stuck with that choice forever. If, over time, there is a need to change the number or type of interfaces, that is not a problem. Host interfaces can be swapped between 8Gb FC, 16Gb FC or 10GbE by merely changing the optical transceivers to the newly desired type and confirming the change in the User Interface.
Existing E-Series V or VT customers can take advantage of the high performance E-Series P and all the above features by converting their systems to E-Series P with the additional ports. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about the E-Series Conversion Program.
