Transporter offers a great way to privately sync and share all of your valuable files, but we’re constantly working to improve the experience for our users. That’s why we’re so excited to announce the release of Transporter version 3.0 software today.
Version 3.0 adds some powerful new features to enhance the usability of our Transporter products, so read on to learn more about what we’ve been working on for our users.
Read Only Sharing
Whether you’ve had to share critical documents with co-workers or needed to share photos with family members, you’ve likely encountered a situation where limited access is required to prevent files getting accidentally modified or deleted. Transporter’s new read only feature lets you grant certain users permission to edit while others can only view. All users automatically see the latest versions of files even if they won’t be able to edit or delete them.
If you’ve experienced the limited read-only features from public cloud service providers, you’ll appreciate the accessibility of Transporter’s implementation that allows every Transporter customer read only access to files on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. Box and Dropbox only offer read only access if you’re a business customer, and even then Box only provides web access despite promising read-only access on the desktop for years.
Create New Folder on Mobile
Organizing data from your mobile device just got a little easier. Version 3.0 introduced the ability to create folders on your Transporter right from the mobile applications. This means you don’t have to wait until you’re back home and working on the desktop to get all your files situated.
Expanded OS Support
Transporter now features full OS X 10.10 Yosemite support with new icon badges, new folder appearances and Yosemite-style contextual menu integration. The new release also offers enhanced support for iOS 8, including user authorization for notifications, badges and location access for camera auto upload.
New Icon Badges
Adding new visual appeal along with the substance, we’ve updated the icon badges across all Transporter applications for even better visibility and clarity while adhering to that distinctive OS X 10.10 look and feel. Read-only folders are easily identified with a distinctive book shaped icon.
To install the Mac and Windows desktop Version 3.0 update, simply select “Check for Updates” in the “More Options” section of the Transporter Desktop app. Mobile apps for iOS and Android devices are available from Apple iTunes and Google Play respectively.
