XSPEDIUS ADOPTS NEXSAN ATABEAST
Enterprise-class RAID array meets telecommunications firm's archiving, retrieval needs
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., December 14, 2004 - Nexsan Technologies, the leader in innovative storage solutions, today announced that Xspedius Communications, LLC, a leading facilities-based integrated communications provider, has selected the company's Nexsan ATABeast to enable more reliable archiving and faster retrieval times of its mission-critical data.
O'Fallon, Missouri-based Xspedius sought a storage solution that would easily attach to its existing EMC SAN and allow it to archive email and other company records while taking a snapshot of its file servers, which is then copied to tape for offsite storage.
In addition to high reliability and fast response times, Xspedius wanted the ability to connect multiple hosts, running on both Windows and UNIX operating systems, directly to the storage device for direct archiving. Local storage integrator CorData suggested Nexsan's ATABeast to solve all of these requirements.
"The ATABeast gives us reliable archiving with much faster retrieval times than tape would allow," said Harold Teets, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Xspedius. "We use it to journal two years of email files, six months of call detail records and to take a quick snapshot of our file servers which is then copied to tape for offsite storage. It is a simple but elegant solution to our archiving needs that helps us better serve our customers."
Teets noted that he found the people at CorData very helpful. "The team at CorData was able to quickly analyze our problem, suggest several strategies to achieve the results we wanted, and deliver our storage solution, including their excellent lab-based system's administration training, for a very affordable price."
"Xspedius combines innovative integrated telecommunications services with a very cost-effective solution to create a compelling value for its customers," said Brendan Kinkade, Vice President of Marketing at Nexsan. "Likewise, Nexsan is known for providing storage solutions, like the ATABeast, with outstanding performance at an affordable price point. We are pleased that our award-winning, enterprise-class RAID array was able to meet Xspedius' archiving and retrieval needs."
Nexsan's ATABeast is an extreme density disk array that delivers enterprise-class capabilities in a low-profile, cost-correct package built around the latest award-winning technology from Nexsan and high-capacity ATA disk drives. It is OS-independent, needing no special software drivers or server-based management applications. Each component is redundant with individual components online that are hot swappable. ATABeast provides the highest density per square inch - 10.5 drives per U, 4.2 TB per U (using 400 GB drives).
