NEXSAN TO UNVEIL INFINISAN NETWORK STORAGE AND D2D BACKUP SOLUTIONS AT COMDEX 2001
Executive VP to Present at Educational Program
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, November 6, 2001 - Nexsan Technologies will be unveiling its next-generation RAID, SAN and D2D (Disk-to-Disk) backup solutions at Comdex 2001, November 12-16 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth #L1839. Nexsan's Senior Executive Vice President, Diamond Lauffin, will participate in the education program during the High-Velocity Computing Conference on Monday, November 12th.
Nexsan Technologies InfiniSANT line of disk-based storage solutions delivers the latest in form and function. All InfiniSAN products provide enterprise-class features and functionality in low profile, cost correct, expandable packages. With either Fibre or SCSI host connectivity, InfiniSAN provides unlimited flexibility in a disk-based solution. Unquestioned reliability results from the elimination of all single points of failure, while Nexsan's Extreme Intelligence Software, NexScanT, provides sophisticated centralized management and monitoring of all InfiniSAN subsystems.
Nexsan's new D2D (Disk to Disk backup) will be unveiled with the showing of the company's new 14-bay InfiniSAN ATAboyT, which provides unlimited flexibility and features in an advanced ATA disk-based solution. With either Fibre or SCSI host connectivity, the InfiniSAN ATAboy connectivity, the InfiniSAN ATAboy D2D backup solution is an exciting new innovation that
replaces the need for traditional tape backup. Since data is transferred real-time to a local or remote backup device, backup windows become a thing of the past. Significantly faster than traditional backup solutions, D2D provides all the features of traditional backup but at a lower cost per megabyte for small- to enterprise-class environments. This scalable, low profile, rackmount solution employs high-availability disk storage starting at 500GB.
Nexsan's new InfiniSAN 2 series technology provides "Next Generation " performance now, plus reliability and high data availability for the most demanding storage and data-delivery applications. Utilizing storage virtualization, the InfiniSAN 2 series scale from an entry-level solution while providing unchallenged expandability and unsurpassed fault-tolerance supporting the most demanding mid-range to enterprise class applications
Nexsan's new InfiniSANT4 series design supports one or two RAID controllers in the cabinet, with a unique option of configuring a disaster-tolerant solution of two single controller subsystems linked via three optical links, two of which are redundant.
All of Nexsan's versatile InfiniSAN products are system-independent, supporting SAN, DAS or NAS configurations, and Full Fabric, Fibre, SCSI or ATA. They provide support for TCP/IP, Ethernet, Data and SCSI or IP, and for Serial, LAN, WAN or web connections. The systems are also designed to be completely host- and operating system-independent, providing that the host can support external SCSI or Fibre Channel disk drives. Tele-GuardT, Nexsan's phone home manager, provides operator selectable parameters monitoring all system conditions. Tele-GuardT provides the vehicle to notify single or multiple system operators of any user-defined, system-triggered event.
Diamond Lauffin's presentation 'Introducing Affordable Disk-to-Disk (D2D) Storage' will cover the lowering of hardware and software costs, which has been essential in developing affordable D2D solutions, as well as a cost-correct and efficient distribution model. According to Lauffin, "Over the last few years the cost of hard disk storage has been wrongly inflated by storage vendors. It is clear today that these types of costs are out of line with today's storage needs and budgets. Nexsan's continued improvement in reliability, compatibility and ease of use eliminates the 'black magic' component of storage, while D2D storage accomplishes on-site backup, off-site disaster recovery and both on-site and off-site permanent archives - at a price well below tape."
