Nexsan VP Eulogizes Tape At Storewidth 2003

Diamond Lauffin Says 'Goodbye' to Tape Backup at Conference

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., March 6, 2003 - Diamond Lauffin, Senior Executive Vice President of Nexsan Technologies, the leader in innovative storage solutions, will be a featured speaker at the third annual Gilder/Forbes Storewidth Conference, March 23 to 25, at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Laguna Niguel, Calif., the company announced today.

A controversial and outspoken proponent of disk-to-disk (D2D) backup solutions, Lauffin will speak at a session entitled "Saying Goodbye to Tape: alternative backup options," on March 25 starting at 9:45 a.m. George Gilder, chairman of Gilder Publishing, LLC and editor of the Gilder Technology Report will moderate the session.

"I said my goodbye to tape many years ago," claimed Lauffin, "but I'll gladly take part in this special Storewidth venue so that many others can join me in wishing tape to finally rest in peace. There are better alternatives when it comes to backup and hopefully I can convince others to quit looking to the past and instead embrace the future of disk-based storage."

Storewidth 2003 brings together the leaders of the storage and networking industries to discuss, debate and discover the leading technologies of the Storewidth era, the technologies that best exploit today's abundant storage and bandwidth supplies to battle network and speed of light latencies and conserve scarce IT resources and consumer time.

Lauffin is among the more than 40 top thought and business leaders scheduled to give their views and debate the merits of new and emerging technologies, review existing products and services, and assess the overall health of the industry.

Among Nexsan's tape-slaying product offerings is the recently announced ATABeast, an ultra high density disk-based storage solution that leverages the latest advancements in ATA drive technology and software to help expand storage capacity, improve business continuance and increase storage ROI. Nexsan's D2D solutions start with the compact ATAbaby and scale all the way to the ATAbeast, appropriately named for its high capacity, high performance and predatory designs on tape libraries.
