Nexsan Gives Birth To ATAbaby
D2D bundle is easy to install, easy to use & cost-correct storage for SMBs
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., February 10, 2003 - Nexsan Technologies, the leader in innovative storage solutions, today announced the arrival of its newest family member, the ATAbabyT. This terabyte-capacity storage solution, with a birth weight of only 16 lbs, and standing1U high, delivers the same advanced, intelligent, cost-correct RAID technology that Nexsan provides for enterprise customers to small and medium businesses.
Nexsan's new ATAbaby bundle is a fully automated disk-based storage solution and leverages the latest advancements in ATA drive technology and software to help expand storage capacity, improve business continuance and increase storage ROI. With Nexsan's bundled InfiniSAN D2DT 2.0 Server software, ATAbaby provides an easy to use, total high capacity backup system at an unbeatable price point, making it the ultimate storage platform for small to medium business environments. ATAbaby is also an ideal addition for departmental and workgroups throughout an enterprise.
In addition to the higher reliability of a disk based solution, the ATAbaby D2D bundle provides a total backup solution, making tape cartridge and backup software purchases, tape rotation, backup windows and the challenges of data restoration a thing of the past.
With up to 1 terabyte of storage in a single unit, ATAbaby provides intelligent RAID protection in a compact desktop or rackmount package. Perfect for primary storage or, when bundled with Nexsan's InfiniSAN D2D application, an ideal disk-to-disk backup appliance, ATAbaby's high-availability design ensures uninterrupted workflow. The advanced ATAbaby system is designed for easy installation and use and maximizes performance by dedicating an independent ATA channel to each of the four drives.
"Regardless of the size of a company, the same requirements for data protection and data availability exist. By using the same cost dynamics that have made our ATA-based storage arrays so attractive to enterprise customers, we are able to deliver RAID security to small and medium sized businesses," said Diamond Lauffin, Nexsan's Senior Executive Vice President. "We expect the SMB market to embrace the ATAbaby as a more intelligent choice than tape backup since it addresses the universal need for automating data storage and high-capacity to keep pace with exploding storage requirements - all at a lower total cost of ownership."
ATAbaby supports RAID levels 0, 5, and JBOD (4 LUNs) as well as SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) for in-band status reporting. Further status information is available via a serial port GUI. High-speed host connectivity is provided with a Wide Ultra2 SCSI port with a dual-stack VHDCI SCSI connector that is backward- compatible with single-ended SCSI connectors. The streamlined design of the ATAbaby eliminates all internal data cables; the four ATA drives and controller plug directly into the midplane. The RAID controller features a standard 32MB cache that is factory-expandable to 256MB.
Nexsan's bundled ATAbaby D2D backup solution is available now to provide customers with new levels of simplicity, reliability and affordability than can't be achieved with any tape backup system. Pricing for a 320GB solution starts at $2595, with a 1TB solution priced at $4295.
