The Edge is setting new standards for reliability, scalability and energy efficiency by seamlessly integrating powerful technologies into a single, easy-to-own solution. The unique combination of these fully integrated technologies delivers the most powerful and scalable NAS product in its class.

The Edge utilizes Nexsan’s enterprise class server hardware to deliver outstanding performance and reliability. Nexsan has a legacy of providing global enterprises with high performance solutions. The Edge utilizes the server hardware found in Nexsan’s global enterprise solutions to deliver outstanding performance and reliability to any businesses.

The Edge includes fully integrated, enterprise class Nexsan SAS and/or SATA RAID storage systems.

With Nexsan storage, The Edge offers significant advantages over commodity NAS products. RAID operations are separate and off-loaded from The Edge NAS server to maximize CPU and memory performance. With off-loaded RAID operations, Nexsan’s high performance 4 Gb Fibre Channel RAID controllers deliver 400MB/sec to 800MB/sec as well as reliable high speed RAID set rebuilds without impacting NAS performance.

The Edge utilizes Microsoft WUDSS. Microsoft WUDSS is a dedicated file and storage server technology designed for dependability, seamless integration and delivers the best value in networked storage. WUDSS integrates with existing infrastructures and supports heterogeneous file serving as well as backup of stored data. Its web-based user interface makes management easy and enterprises can make full use of commonly-used network environments standard management software. The Edge includes Nexsan Edge Management GUI - NEM, providing a single interface to Microsoft WUDSS services and Nexsan storage. Microsoft WUDSS and NEM are preinstalled and preconfigured on The Edge to be deployed out of the box in minutes.

The Edge includes a complete set of data integrity and protection features. Battery-backed RAID cache and multiple RAID levels, including hardware RAID 6, ensure data integrity during power outage or double drive failure. Built-in Microsoft snapshots provide data protection of both file and block storage. Microsoft DFS replication protects site data by replicating files to another location.

The Edge is integrated with Nexsan’s award winning SASBoy, SATABoy and SATABeast RAID storage and offers the energy-saving benefits of Nexsan's revolutionary AutoMAID™ technology.
